We expect every teacher to be a good teacher – no child deserves less.
At the heart of our expectations lie 7 ‘p’ words:
• purpose
• passion
• pace
• positive teaching
• partner work
• participation
• progress
Teachers receive very good support to enable them to quickly achieve the high standards expected.
All staff are trained in what lies behind the words that constitute the 7ps and detailed guidance is available in the teaching and learning policy. Everything is very explicit and the schools are covered in visual reminders of key aspects of the policy. Ensuring consistency with our expectations is a key part of the work of senior leaders, thus their high classroom presence. Good use is made of effective, experienced staff as models for those with less experience.
The schools place great emphasis on presentation and marking. The approach we have developed is now being used in schools across the country and abroad. Please see www.effectivemarking.co.uk
‘The clear and comprehensive framework for teaching is consistently applied and used as a guide for all teachers to aspire to. Teachers have short-term targets so that improvement can be rapid and immediate. Opportunities to observe teaching by experts from across the school and the federation give teachers an excellent model against which to improve their practice.’
